This year’s Health Tech Jam is going virtual!

The annual Health Tech Jam for UIC students inspires innovation and cultivates collaboration in a fast-paced, education-filled team competition. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 events will be entirely virtual, hosted on video meeting platform, Zoom.

To provide flexibility for our student participants, the event will span four days, with a few required online meetings for the teams.

Thursday, February 10th Heading link

*6:00pm *Event kick-off: opening talk with expectations, rules, goals, and prompt reveal
*6:30pm *Workshop 1: Delegation, Ideation, and Teamwork!
*7:30pm - 8:00pm *Teams are divided into breakout rooms for introduction activities, discussing 3-5 small ideas based on prompts.

Friday, February 11th Heading link

No required events will occur.

However, teams may choose to work on their project at any time between the event’s kick-off and wrap-up.

Saturday, February 12th Heading link

Not all of the time in this window is required for participation. Teams may optionally elect to work during some of this time individually or as a group.
10:00am Open work time: suggested that students delegate tasks to work independently when not in workshops
*11:00am *Feedback Checkpoint 2: 20 minutes with different judges
12:00pm Workshop 2, Rich Severin: COVID-19 and Science Communication (30 minutes, with 15 minutes extra for break/questions)
12:45pm Workshop 3, Kelly Cloninger: Building the Blueprints of a Health Care App through Wireframing (30 minutes, with 15 minutes extra for break/questions)
1:30pm Workshop 4, Altus Academy participants (30 minutes, with 15 minutes extra for break/questions)
2:15pm Workshop 5, Liza Papautsky - Human Centered Design Considerations (30 minutes, with 15 minutes extra for break/questions)
2:45pm - 4:00pm Open work time: suggested that students utilize information from workshops to refine and polish their final idea and begin creating visuals.

Sunday, February 13th Heading link

*11:00am *Feedback Checkpoint 3: 20 minutes with 3 groups of judges
12:15pm Open work time: suggested that students take their last pieces of feedback to continue refining idea before creating the final pitch.
